In a mass society, much of the information necessary to organise and carry-out our lives comes through a wide variety of media channels. We trust the broadcasters, who trust their reporters and pundits, who trust their sources, and all have their own agendas and foibles. But what do we really know first-hand? Hell, even the reporters are exceedingly lazy (or studiously so) with verification.
