The venerable peace sign by most accounts began as a symbol for the UK's Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament as part of their "Ban the Bomb" campaign. It consists of the semaphores for "N" and "D" (eg: Nuclear Disarmament) bounded by a circle (for "global" or "total"). During the Vietnam war, its meaning broadened as it was co-opted by peace activists.
Peace must be the highest moral value, after love. This gallery contains a variety of peace signs. They're on flags and in text, they're peeking from behind mushroom coulds or vibrantly coloured. Wage peace today
